AB Electronics was originally formed by Alistair Macleod as a part time business in March 2003 while working at DD Morrison & Co. Alistair worked at DD Morrison for over 21 years as a TV engineer and accredited SKY contract satellite installer. During that time, starting in 1984, he also served as the local Tunstall telecom installer and service engineer for the islands.
After more than two decades of technical experience, Alistair branched out independently. Due to his growing reputation as a skilled electronics technician, he took on the official Tunstall contract directly in his own right.
The business expanded steadily through word of mouth and established long-term working relationships. On 1st January 2007, the company officially incorporated as AB Electronics (STY) Ltd.
AB Electronics has grown year on year by picking up contract work based on quality workmanship and fast response times. Customer satisfaction is the main priority, ensuring every job is completed correctly the first time.
The business provides comprehensive coverage across the Western Isles, extending from the Isle of Lewis down to the Isle of Barra. To ensure continuous operation for essential safety networks, AB Electronics remains on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all direct contract and subcontract work.
